Founded in 2009, the nursery has spent over a decade and a half growing tens of thousands of woody shrubs, shade trees, ornamental trees, and evergreens. Trees are grown in Pennsylvania's native clay, rock, and loam soils — a premium growing medium that produces strong, transplant-ready material well-suited to the regional landscape. All plant material is pruned at least twice a year to ensure optimal structure and quality. The Downingtown location is home to a holding yard of re-wholesale and pre-dug finished stock, and is particularly well known for its flowering understory trees and shrub material. Customers can also find shade trees, magnolias, viburnums, junipers, arborvitaes, and a wide range of other species. Harmony Hill recently expanded by acquiring Tulpehocken Nursery, a 70-acre tree farm in Berks County, PA, adding over 6,700 trees and shrubs including large-caliper and specimen varieties such as Parrotia, European Hornbeam, various oak species, and Weeping Katsura.
