Blue Rooster Farm is a family-owned and operated farm nestled on 94 acres in the Ridge and Valley region of South Central Pennsylvania. Run by Roy Brubaker and Julie Hurst, the farm has been committed to sustainable, low-input livestock farming since 1998. The farm raises North Country Cheviot sheep, grass-fed Black Angus beef, and Berkshire hogs — all without synthetic growth hormones, antibiotics, chemical wormers, pesticides, or commercial fertilizers. Livestock rotationally graze on approximately 50 acres of pasture, with a strong emphasis on soil health and stewardship of the Susquehanna River watershed. Blue Rooster Farm sells whole, half, and quarter meats directly to customers and through local CSAs. The farm is currently focused on grazing a small sheep flock while expanding its wildlife conservation efforts on the land.
