Newhard Farms, home of The Corn Shed, is a fifth-generation family farm owned and operated by Donald and Joel Newhard in Coplay, PA. Farming over 2,500 acres of crops including corn, wheat, soybeans, and sweet corn, Newhard Farms is best known throughout the Lehigh Valley for its premium quality, non-GMO sweet corn — the centerpiece of their seasonal farm market, The Corn Shed. The farm is deeply committed to sustainable and environmentally responsible farming practices. Their soil fertility program is based on regular soil testing, applying nutrients only as needed to maintain healthy, productive soil. Most crops are grown using no-till or minimum-till methods to prevent erosion, and diverse crop rotations are practiced to enrich the soil and reduce disease and pest outbreaks. In 2023, the farm installed 125 solar panels on their equipment storage shed, powering nearly all of the farm's energy needs. Every farm they operate has an approved NRCS conservation plan.
