Biquinho Peppers
Biquinho peppers, also known as "little beak peppers" or "sweety drops," are a small, teardrop-shaped chili pepper native to Brazil. They are a unique member of the Capsicum chinense species—the same family as some of the hottest peppers in the world—yet they are incredibly mild, typically ranging from 500 to 1,000 Scoville heat units (SHU). Their flavor is what makes them truly special: a complex combination of sweet, fruity, and slightly smoky notes, with a thin skin and a satisfying pop when you bite into them. They are most commonly found in red, but yellow varieties also exist.

Choosing
Freshness: Look for firm, glossy peppers without any wrinkles or soft spots. The stem should be green and fresh-looking.
Availability: While they are becoming more popular, fresh biquinho peppers can be hard to find outside of specialty markets or farmers' markets during the late summer and early fall. They are much more widely available in jars, pickled in a sweet and sour brine, often labeled as "Sweety Drops."
